While not actually a Halloween
party, hosting a Friday the 13th. party is a great way to
dispel the "I wish it were Halloween" blues and are a lot
of fun. 2012 there will be a Friday the 13th. in April and
July. Sadly, there won't be a Friday the Thirteenth in the month of
October until 2017.
Entertainment
We usually watch Friday the 13th. parts one and two,
but you can watch any of them you wish. Both of these movies
are under an hour and a half long, so you can watch
them both during the course of your party.
Friday The 13th. on DVD
Twenty years after a drowning and a pair of murders
shut it down, Camp Crystal Lake is reopening --
against the better judgment of skeptical locals. The
new owner scoffs at the camp's
"death curse," but when the teenage counselors start
to drop, he begins to reconsider. Gruesome makeup
and effects, a nubile cast and a psycho-killer for the ages
make this a slasher classic.
Intermission
This is a good time to discuss the first movie and
refresh everyone's food and beverage.
Friday The 13th. Part 2 on DVD
Five years after the horrible bloodbath at Camp
Crystal Lake, it seems Jason Voorhees and his
demented mother are in the past. Paul opens up a new camp close to the infamous site,
ignoring warnings to stay away, and a
sexually-charged group of counselors follow --
including child psychologist major Ginny. But Jason has been hiding out all this time,
and now he's ready for revenge. |
Decorations
Decorations are the mainstay of any type of party,
and this one is no different. Fortunately, there are many
different types of decorations and props based on the Friday the
13th. movies and Jason, there main character
to create a really great mood. |
Jason Door Topper
One of our favorite decorations for our Friday the 13th.
party is the "Jason Door Topper".
This large Halloween decoration features a life-sized
hockey-mask wearing Jason Voorhees carrying a bloody machete
on top and tattered
black cloth that flows down below it for your guests to walk
through.
This door topper can be mounted over standard sized doors or even a
similarly sized window.
Its up to you whether you hang it on the inside or outside
of your front door. The door topper measures around 35" wide
by 11" high, not including the 83" long black fringed
curtain. This great Halloween or Friday the 13th.
decoration is available from several online retailers.
Plus, you can use the "Jason
Door Topper" as a creepy Halloween decoration as
well. |

Friday the 13th Camp Crystal
Lake Sign
A great way to welcome your honored guests to your killer campground or
in this case, party
with this "Camp Crystal Lake" sign.
This plastic
sign measures 16.5 inches by 8.25 inches in size.
You can mount it on
your wall, on or next to your front door or just
about anywhere you
want. Can also be used as a table
center-piece. |
|
Jason Scene Setter
These life-size movie killer posters are impressive and
yet very affordable. The set includes two large Jason Voorhees decals.
One is in a normal view
and the other is a shadowed silhouette. The normal view Jason measures
sixty-five
inches by
thirty-three and a half inches. The Shadow Jason measures
thirty inches by thirteen
inches.
Both posters are made of
thin vinyl so they can be easily hung indoors or out. We
attach the "normal view" scene setter to one wall inside the
house and the "shadow silhouette" version to the outside of
the front door.
This is a very menacing decoration to
use in combination with other Camp Crystal Lake Halloween
decorations. The "Jason Scene Setters" are
currently available online from various retailers. |
|
Jason Room Rolls
This set of "Jason Room Rolls" contains two complete rolls of
a creepy
wall covering, both measuring four feet high by twenty-five
feet wide. The top roll looks like the forest at Camp
Crystal Lake.
The bottom roll is the reflection of the
forest on the water. Can be used either indoors or
outdoors. We cover an entire wall with this wall covering
and then hang the Camp Crystal Lake sign on it.
While you can use tape or thumb
tacks to attach the room roll material to the walls, we
prefer to use Sticky Tack.
Sticky Tack is a non-toxic,
sticky clay-like adhesive that is used to temporarily attach
light-weight material such as posters, banners and in this
case the room rolls to walls. |

Food & Beverage
We usually serve cake and punch to our guests before
watching the first movie and then sit out the bloody
pop-corn just before we start the first movie.

Tableware
There are many decorations based on the Friday the
13th. movies and Jason, there main character
including: |
Bloody Tablecloth
The "Bloody Tablecloth" is a perfect table cover for a
Friday the Thirteenth massacre, Halloween party or
if you just want to freak-out your friends and family. You
can also use it as a base to place Halloween props on as part of a gory
Halloween display.
This vinyl
tablecloth measures a full fifty-four inches by
one-hundred and eight inches in size. |
|
Blood Red Tableware
For our Friday the 13th. party tableware we wanted to stick
with the blood theme, so we chose to use plain, red colored
paper plates, dinner sized napkins and red plastic forks,
knives and spoons. These are usually available at your local
party store year round. The plastic cups are not necessary
if you use either the "Jason Shot Glasses" or "Jason
Goblets" to serve your beverages from. |
|
Jason Serving Bowl
This large serving bowl is embossed with Jason Voorhees complete with hockey mask and
his trusty machete on one side and says "Friday the 13th" on the
other. We have two of
these great bowls. One that acts as a punch bowl for
our Blood Punch and the other to serve Bloody Pop-corn
from. |
|
Jason Shot Glasses
These shot glasses match the design of the Jason
Serving Bowl above and are a perfect set. One set
includes two shot glasses.
Jason Goblets
These seven inch tall plastic goblets are perfect
for serving your punch or other beverages in. They
are textured and painted with the Jason hockey mask. |
|
While there are
many "bad luck" associations with the number
thirteen, the fear of Friday the 13th as a
combined date of the month and day of the
week was most likely created during the
middle ages, when on a Friday the 13th in
1306, King Philip of France arrested,
tortured and then murdered the
revered Knights Templar. |
