a favorite zombie flick to get in the mood. Below are our favorite thirteen Zombie
movies for Halloween viewing.
World War Z
Ex-U.N. investigator Gerry Lane and his family are sitting
in what appears to be a typical Philadelphia traffic jam
when helicopters began to circle ominously overhead, and an
explosion throws the city into panic. In the blink of an
eye, the streets are consumed by chaos. When Gerry learns
that the catalyst for the turmoil is a highly contagious
virus that transforms those who contract it into rampaging
maniacs, and that legions of the infected are growing on all
continents, he agrees to join his former colleagues in
discovering the source of the rampant plague so that his
wife and two daughters will be guaranteed safety aboard a UN
fleet in the Atlantic Ocean.
Night
of the Living Dead
George Romero's low-budget, classic that had great
difficulty finding a distributor at the time of its release
in 1968, and has since become one of the most influential
horror films of all time. Seven people secluded in a
Pennsylvania farmhouse face relentless attacks by reanimated
corpses seeking to eat their flesh. The group, which
includes a married couple and their daughter, a pair of
young lovers, and an African-American man, try to keep their
sanity as the living dead keep trying to enter the house.

affectionately named Zombieland after this invasion. The
group uses lights and sounds to attract zombies and weapons
to wage war on the seemingly endless zombie invasion. The
ultimate goal of the Zombieland attack is to save the United
States from being controlled by zombies and to fight for
freedom from mad cow disease.
Night of the Living Dead
In this re-make of the original movie, seven people are
trapped in an isolated farmhouse and living an unspeakable
nightmare. Cannibalistic zombies have been awakened from the
dead and are on a relentless killing and eating binge. One
of the biggest departures from the original, is that the
main female character, Barbara, becomes the strongest of the
group.
My wife and I actually saw this
in the theater on Halloween night 1990 when it was first
released and had a great time.
Cemetery Man
Rupert Everett stars in this Italian horror film as
Francesco Dellamorte, a watchman at a cemetery. Being a
watchman means being ready with a hatchet as the undead
emerge from their graves each night. Funny, smart, and scary
all at the same time.

state of ghoulishness, until she runs into still-alive cop
Kenneth, the levelheaded Michael and Andre, a rebel with a
pregnant wife. The group heads for the local mall where they
barricade themselves inside. More survivors surface, while
in the outside world the zombies go about their day by
slowly taking over the planet. Undeterred by the odds
against them, the survivors plot, scheme, and enjoy their
mall paradise.

kill, but to consume as well.

undead, the other people already on the island force the
pair into a fight-or-die battle amongst themselves. Armed
only with crude weapons, they must descend to savagery and
cutthroat tactics just to make it through each day. 2012
Night of the Comet
After a brilliant comet passes overhead, most people die
instantly while others who were indirectly exposed to its
rays are turned into flesh-eating zombies. Escaping injury,
two "valley-girl" sisters team up with other survivors to
combat the zombies in this campy sci-fi romp.
Dance of the Dead
A horror-comedy from Sam Raimi's Ghost House Underground.
It's up to the dateless nerds at suburban high school to
save prom night when the dead rise from the earth to feast
on the living.

Also listed in our Dark Comedies list, Superior remake of
the 1978 movie by the same name.

plans to rejoin her mother in Miami. Lazaro, Juan's friend,
is trying to connect with his own son. These two friends
from Cuba hatch a plan to launch a zombie extermination
service after their native Cuba is overrun by the living
dead. As the Cuban government attempts to maintain public
order by blaming American, Juan and his group see profits
from their zombie killing enterprise, but soon find their
own lives at risk.
Interestingly, in
the original zombie movie, "Night of the Living
Dead", the undead creatures were never called
"Zombies", but " Flesh Eating Ghouls". |
