While I would consider the
creatures in these movies to be quasi-zombies, because they
are infected people and not actually undead, they are great
zombie like movies and often even scarier. Below are our
favorite zombie like infected people go on a rampage movies for Halloween
entertainment.
Quarantine
This movie chronicles the outbreak of a rabies-like disease
in a Los Angeles apartment building and the struggle of the
unaffected residents to stay alive after the authorities
trap them inside in an effort to contain it. Presented
through the lens of a video camera, television reporter
Angela and her cameraman, Scott, are covering the goings-on
at a firehouse for a program about night shift workers.
An alarm sounds, and a truck is
dispatched--with Angela and Scott on board---to an apartment
building where an old woman has seemingly lost her mind. The
woman bites one of the firemen and is soon killed, but when
more tenants turn up with the same disorder, it's clear that
a chain reaction is occurring. Unfortunately for Angela and
the rest of the uninfected residents, the authorities have
quarantined the building---but she and Scott continue to
document the tragic and terrifying events inside the
building as those inside are one by one transformed into
bloodthirsty monsters.
Quarantine II
Picking up immediately after the events depicted in
Quarantine (above), this sequel finds the passengers of
Flight 318 begin to exhibit disturbing rabies-like symptoms
and turning some passengers into crazed, bloodthirsty
killers. The pilot decides to make an emergency landing at
an isolated terminal in a large metropolitan airport. As the
group hastily departs the plane, terrified flight attendant
Jenny bravely attempts to lead them to safety.
But when a squad of police,
military and emergency workers arrive on the scene
accompanied by the CDC, the passengers' relief turns to
horror as they realize they have been quarantined, with no
hope of escape. Now, their only chance of living through
this nightmare without getting infected by the virus, murdered by those who are
infected or shot
down while fleeing rests in the hands of Jenny and
resourceful kindergarten teacher Henry, who try to remain
calm long enough to formulate a viable escape plan.
The Crazies
In Ogden Marsh, Iowa, a small rural town of just over twelve
hundred people, there is something happening that is making
the citizens act bizarre and homicidal. The local Sheriff,
David Dutton, is forced to kill a resident and another kills
his wife and son. One by one the towns people are falling
victim to an unknown toxin and are becoming bloodthirsty
killers.
After the discovery of a downed
military plane, the Sheriff and his pregnant wife, Judy, try
to make sense of the escalating violence, while the
government uses deadly force to close off all access and
won't let anyone in or out - even those uninfected. An
ordinary night becomes a horrifying struggle for the new
remaining survivors as they do their best to get out of town
alive.
Nightmare at Noon
While a sci-fi movie, it almost reminds me of a old west style shoot em up flick. Nightmare
at Noon is one of those all-out eighties style movies that
has plenty of guns, explosions, and stunts that you will
either love or hate... I happen to love it and its cast of
characters.
On vacation in their decked out
motor home, lawyer Ken Griffiths and his wife Cheri pick up
hitch-hiking Reilly, a ex-cop loner and end up stopping at a
diner in the small town of Canyonland, Utah. They soon find
themselves trapped in a town whose inhabitants have been
poisoned by a deadly toxin turning them into homicidal
maniacs who kill each other and anybody who passes through.
They team up with local Sheriff Hanks and daughter Julia,
who is also a deputy sheriff and fight for survival and a
solution. 1988
Omega Man
Colonel Robert Neville, a military research scientist, who
due to being injected with an experimental vaccine he was
developing against the virus, is the only survivor of an
plague caused by biological weapons that has killed most of
the population.
Those who survived the plague have become
deformed, nocturnal and psychotic people who call themselves
"The Family". They believe science and technology to be the
cause of the war and their punishment, and Neville, as the
last symbol of science, the old world, and a "user of the
wheel", must die. Neville, using electricity, machinery, and
science attempts to hold them at bay. 1971
