MAKING
YOUR OWN HALLOWEEN
JEWELRY
Making your own Halloween
jewelry can be fun and it's relatively easy to do. You
can find all kinds of inexpensive kids bracelets,
necklaces and Halloween miniature ornaments that you can
take apart and turn into charm bracelets, earrings and
necklaces, giving them your own flair.
We've picked up some kids
charm bracelets with three charms and some decorative
beads at a local grocery store for around $1.50 each.
We'll use three bracelets to make a great looking
necklace and earring set. We also picked up two sets of
Halloween mini ornaments at a craft store that had nine
in a pack for about $1.99. These can be turned into
earrings, necklaces and charm bracelets.
Supplies Needed:
Halloween mini
ornaments and charms
Jewelers Pliers
Jump Rings
Clasps
Plastic coated
jewelry wire or stretch jewelry string
Earring wires
Autumn colored
plastic or glass beads
Satin "Rattail" cord
Crimping beads
Necklace Using the
charms, beads and other Halloween items that
you have found, lay them out on a bead form
to see what it will look like. You can move
them around and make it perfect before you
string it. Use either plastic coated jewelry
wire or stretch sting to string the beads.
If using wire, you'll need some crimps and a
fastener for the ends of the necklace.
Bracelet Using
needle nose pliers, dismantle the pre-made
Halloween jewelry if you need to. Cut a
piece of the rubber stretch string to fit
your wrist. Using stretch string, string the
beads and charms. When you have added what
you want on it, tie off with a "surgeons
knot" and add a small drop of craft glue
made for this string to secure it. Make a
bunch of them and wear them all at one time!
Earrings Using hoop earrings made for
adding beads or bead pins to make multiple
hanging pieces, you can do just about
anything when making earrings! You may need
to buy a pack of ear wires to attach your
beads and charms to, jump rings as well. You
can look for spiders, pumpkins and ghosts
with bells inside them that easily make a
quick pair of earrings.
